Matt Mason is an experienced Lecturer in Nursing at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Having commenced his career at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne (Trauma/Orthopaedic, Trauma Intensive Care and Hyperbaric Medicine) Matt has experience in a range of nursing roles including as a Community Health Nurse, Remote Area Nurse, Clinical Educator, Nursing Coordinator and Agency Nurse (Emergency, ICU and general Medical/Surgical).
His journey in IPC began as an Infection Prevention and Staff Health Clinical Nurse Consultant at a Victorian rural health facility. He has continued his passion for IPC through subsequent appointments including as an Academic at James Cook University and the University of the Sunshine Coast. He is credentialled at an Expert level through the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control. His areas of interests are infection prevention and control in resource limited areas, vascular access, health professional education and rural and remote health.
